What to Expect
This level is designed for paddlers who have mastered the basics and are ready to develop greater efficiency and confidence. You'll refine your paddling technique, improve your balance, and begin exploring the challenges of wind, chop, and small swell.
Conditions
- Sheltered to semi-exposed waterways
- Light wind and chop
- Small boat wake and wind swell
- Coastal bays, lakes, and harbours
Key Competencies
- Efficient forward paddling with rotation and leg drive
- Improved balance and ski control
- Confident remounting in choppy conditions
- Steering and directional control in wind
- Introduction to catching small runners
- Group paddling awareness and communication
- Basic journey planning and environmental awareness
What to Bring
- Weather-appropriate clothing (quick-dry in summer, warm layers in winter — no denim or cotton)
- Windproof jacket
- Water bottle
- Sunhat, sunglasses (with strap), and sunscreen
- Secure footwear suitable for water activities (optional)
