Explore Okahu Bay by Kayak or SUP

Enjoy the bay from a whole new perspective on one of our kayaks or stand-up paddleboards. All rental equipment includes the necessary safety gear, and all activities are weather dependent and subject to availability.

Rental Prices

Sit-On-Top Kayaks

  • Single Kayak – 1 hour: $30

  • Double Kayak – 1 hour: $55

Stand-Up Paddleboards

  • Single SUP – 1 hour: $30

  • Giant SUP (8 person) – 1 hour: $180

  • Giant SUP (4 person) – 1 hour: $120

Rental Terms & Safety

Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP)

  • No minimum age

  • No denim or heavy clothing

  • Fergs-issued lifejackets must be worn at all times

  • Paddlers must stay within Okahu Bay (defined by the wooden sticks and wharf). Weather and sea conditions may further limit paddling zones.

  • Different rules apply for long-term or off-site rentals—contact us for details.

Sit-On-Top Kayaks

  • No minimum age

  • No denim or heavy clothing

  • Fergs-issued lifejackets must be worn at all times

  • Maximum of 2 people per double kayak (children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult)

  • Paddlers must remain within Okahu Bay (bay limits defined by the wooden pylons and jetty). Weather and sea conditions may restrict access.

  • Different rules apply for long-term or off-site rentals—contact us for details.

Important Notes

  • Longer hires are available at set rates; however, all rental equipment must remain within Okahu Bay and in sight of the Fergs base.

  • Crossing the shipping channels is considered open water and is strictly prohibited for rentals—we are audited for all activities in these areas.

Requirements for Third-Party Youth Groups

Third-party providers booking groups of participants under 16 years old must:

  • Hold their own insurance that specifically covers water-based activities

  • Ensure all participants under 16 have permission forms signed by a parent/guardian, in line with the Fergs Health & Safety Management System
