Rangitoto Night Tour
What to Expect
Experience the magic of Rangitoto after dark on a guided night kayak adventure across the Waitematā Harbour. Launch from our base in Ōrākei and paddle toward Auckland’s most iconic volcanic island as the sun dips low on the horizon.
Once ashore, your guide will lead you on a short hike to Rangitoto’s summit. From here, take in one of the most spectacular vantage points in Auckland: a fiery sunset over the Hauraki Gulf and the city skyline fading into a sea of twinkling lights. As night settles, the island comes alive in new ways. Listen for the calls of native birds and spot wildlife among the rugged lava fields and native bush, experiencing Rangitoto’s unique environment from a whole new perspective.
Back at the shoreline, your return paddle across the harbour is nothing short of magical. On warmer nights, the water may sparkle with bio-luminescence, glowing with every paddle stroke. All around, the city lights stretch across the horizon, mirrored in the water, as you glide under a blanket of stars.
This is not just a kayak trip, it's a classic Auckland experience, where adventure, wildlife, and breathtaking night-time scenery come together to create memories you’ll never forget.
