Sea Kayak Touring - Level 2 - Developing Skills & Confidence
What to Expect
Level 2 paddlers are comfortable on most club paddles (up to 20 km) and can assist in rescues. Focus is on skill development, re-entry techniques, and increased situational awareness.

Protected open coastlines with easy beach landings

Wind: Beaufort Force 3 (12–18 km/h)

Small waves and moderate sea effects
Key Competencies

Self- and assisted rescues, towing, and wet exits in deeper water

Controlled forward and reverse paddling, stopping, and sideways movement

Sweep strokes, low recovery strokes, and sculling for support

Use of stern rudder, low brace turn, and basic bow rudder

Intermediate navigation, weather interpretation, and safe group paddling practices
Focus
Build independence, efficiency, and confidence in moderately challenging conditions while supporting others safely.
